Dr. Swan lives in the Lafayette-West Lafayette community where she practices medicine. “That’s important,” Swan says. “Part of doing this is being in the community. We have a wonderful practice, and our patients are the best part.”
Recognizing that the success of Swan Dermatology Center stems from the community, Dr. Swan says that she and her staff make an effort to give back to that same community. Demonstrating this commitment, the Center supports various community organizations and participates in free cancer screening clinics.
 In keeping with the philosophy of active community outreach, Swan Dermatology Center recently made an important contribution to the cause of sun protection.With the realization that Lafayette’s CAT Park and Soccer Fields offered no areas of sun protection, Dr. Swan, along with Lafayette Parks Department, applied for and received a grant for two shade structures.
As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), Dr. Swan secured the funds for the shade structures, each providing a 20x20 foot area of protection against ultraviolet rays. Swan Dermatology Center was one of just 37 locations across the country selected to receive this AAD grant.
