Juvéderm™ | Juvéderm™ Web Site

Approved by the FDA, Juvéderm™ is a dermal filler gel, used to restore the skin’s volume and hydration level, effectively smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds, such as “smile lines.” It’s made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells, and one of the major components of the skin’s connective tissue matrix.

What makes Juvéderm™ the exciting “next generation” dermal filler is that, compared to any other available hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Juvéderm™ is processed using advanced technology that yields the highest concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid. This translates into a smoother consistency gel that flows easily into the skin with more application uniformity, creating better, longer-lasting results.

As an injectable gel, Juvéderm™ is administered during a simple, nonsurgical treatment that requires almost no recovery or downtime.

To ensure safe, proper treatment with optimum results, it’s important to consult with Dr. Swan to determine your unique needs and to discuss what results you may expect after your treatment.

Juvéderm™ FAQs

Perlane® and Restylane® | Restylane® Web Site

Restylane® is a safe dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin. It's a clear gel that is administered by small injections into the skin folds or wrinkles. Restylane® is excellent for correcting facial wrinkles and folds. It is most often used to correct "laugh lines" and "marionette lines" around the mouth, but can be used in other areas such as between the eyebrows and around the lips. The results are dramatic, and can usually be seen immediately. The effects usually last six to nine months.

Perlane®, like its cousin Restylane®, is a cosmetic dermal filler that replaces lost volume and restores youthful contours to the skin. Perlane® is composed of larger gel particles than Restylane® and is intended for deeper injection to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane® and Perlane® maintain their fullness using the body's own moisture. The hydrophilic, or "water loving," nature of the hyaluronic acid molecules in Restylane® and Perlane® allows them to bind to many times their own weight in water. As the hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water so that the same volume can be maintained over time, providing lasting results.

Restylane® and Perlane® treatments are a great way to complement other skin care services we provide, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion treatments.

Laser Hair Removal | LightSheer Web Site

LightSheer

When dark, coarse hair appears in places which make you uncomfortable, such as on the face, neck, abdomen, bikini area, legs or underarms in women or on the face, neck, shoulders, chest, and back in men, it may be time to consider hair removal treatments with the LightSheer diode laser. This is the treatment of choice at Swan Dermatology Center.

The LightSheer diode laser is a state-of-the-art system specially designed to permanently remove unwanted hair faster, with less discomfort, and more reliably than other methods. The laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The emitted light is well absorbed by the pigment located in hair follicles. During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, long enough to heat up the hair and significantly impede the follicle's ability to re-grow.

This process also treats numerous hair follicles simultaneously. Therefore, LightSheer is appropriate for treating even the largest areas of the body, both quickly and effectively. The LightSheer is FDA approved for permanent hair removal. In most cases, patients may experience 80-90% reduction in the amount of hair after three to six treatments.

Laser Treatment of Red Faces & Red Noses

At Swan Dermatology, we use the Diolite™ 532 laser system. It is indicated for the treatment of vascular skin lesions such as spider veins, spider angiomas, and cherry angiomas, some of which conditions result in red faces and red noses. It allows for treatment of facial veins and other vascular lesions without post-operative purpura (bruising) seen with other lasers.

With the Diolite™ 532 laser, we can offer you the latest in treatment options to eliminate unattractive veins with the gentle action of a light beam. The laser allows non-traumatic treatments that are comfortable, safe, and effective. The mild and precise treatment characteristics of the laser provide consistent results and, in most cases, treatments are performed with very little discomfort to the patient.

MicroFacials

Our MicroFacial combines the benefits of a microdermabrasion treatment with elements of a relaxing European facial. The treatment includes a facial steaming and cleansing, followed by a microdermabrasion treatment, and a hydrating mask. You will also enjoy a neck and upper shoulder massage. This treatment is offered in a relaxing atmosphere where you can rejuvenate both skin and spirit.

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, exfoliating procedure, using a precise stream of crystals directed through the handpiece to loosen the layers of dead skin cells that form on the surface. Done individually or in a series, microfacials revitalize and maintain the skin's appearance and smoothness. There is neither special preparation before the visit nor recuperation afterward.
