Parisian Peel®
The Parisian Peel® process smoothes and freshens your skin, the way the French have enjoyed for years. It's the gentle approach to skin renewal. The Parisian Peel® process can reduce or even erase your fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, scars or other superficial blemishes.
It's not a chemical, not a laser, and not a surgical procedure. Rather, it's a gentle, 20-minute treatment after which you can return immediately to your normal daily activities. You may feel minimal discomfort during the treatment. However, most people experience no discomfort at all.
The process is simple and effective. A precision handpiece is used to direct a stream of very fine crystals and mild suction exactly where needed on your skin. The gentle abrasive action of the crystals combines with the suction to remove the dead outer layer of your skin while bringing smoother, softer skin to the surface. The Parisian Peel® process works equally well on all colors of skin and on most all skin types, even sensitive skin.
For best results, usually 4-8 treatments are needed, performed 7-14 days apart. Once the desired results are achieved, a maintenance treatment is done once every 2-3 months. Talk with Dr. Swan about a treatment plan that's right for your skin type and condition. Because the treatment is so gentle, you can have as many treatments as you need without worrying about side effects.
Sclerotherapy
Spider veins are small, enlarged superficial blood vessels that appear red or blue. They commonly occur on the legs. These dilated blood vessels may be short, unconnected lines, each about the size of a large hair, or connected in a matted, "sunburst" pattern. They may also look like a spider web or a tree with branches. Sometimes they occur in a small area and aren't very noticeable, or they can cover a large area of skin and be quite unattractive.
Larger, dilated blood vessels called varicose veins may be raised above the skin's surface. They may occur along with spider veins. Patients can have pain, ranging from a dull throbbing pain to a burning sensation. The larger vessels are more likely to cause discomfort, although smaller blue veins have been shown to cause pain as well.
If spider veins are unsightly or uncomfortable, we can treat them by the injection of a solution that will cause them to disappear or become much smaller. The injection method, a procedure called sclerotherapy is used to treat unwanted blood vessels on the legs. One of several kinds of solutions, called sclerosing solution, is injected with a very fine needle directly into the blood vessel.
Sclerotherapy has been used for spider veins since the 1930s, and before that for larger veins. The solution causes the veins to swell and stick together, and the blood to thicken. Over a period of weeks, the vessel turns into scar tissue that is absorbed, eventually becoming barely noticeable or invisible.
Skin Care Consultations
Have you ever approached a cosmetic counter or aisle to select a skin care product, only to be overwhelmed by the thousands of choices available? If you are like many men and women, you may feel disappointed by the lack of results you have gotten from these "miracle creams."
At Swan Dermatology Center, we believe that skin care needs are as individual as each person. We can help you redesign your skin care regimen to treat aging and sun-damaged skin...or simply show you how to best care for your skin. After evaluating your skin's condition and problems that may be of concern to you, Dr. Swan or her nurse Cheryl Foley can recommend and help you implement a new skin care regimen. A combination of prescription and over-the-counter topical agents may be suggested.
We carry several lines of skin care products formulated specifically for the treatment of oily to dry skin, age-related fine lines and wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, and for the at-home maximization of the rejuvenating effects of in-office procedures.
