The CoolSculpting® treatment can be applied to effectively reduce the amount of stubborn fat in hard-to-lose areas such as under your chin, belly, flanks, inner and outer thighs.
This procedure is intended for both men and women who already live active and healthy lifestyles, but still see problem areas on their bodies with “stubborn fat,” i.e. areas where the fat does not respond to diet and exercise. Good candidates for the treatment have noticeable bulges in certain areas of their body, but are within 30 lbs. of the ideal weight for their height.
People should choose CoolSculpting® if they are looking for a fast, non-surgical way to eliminate small amounts of stubborn fat with no downtime or recovery period. This treatment is not recommended as a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. These patients should seek out other options for reducing body fat before pursuing a CoolSculpting® procedure.
The procedure only takes a short time in the office. After a one-on-one consultation with the clinician, the treatment generally takes only about an hour depending on the number of areas being treated. You will then begin to see changes as early as three weeks after the treatment, with most patients seeing dramatic results after about two months. The body will continue to eliminate treated cells for 4 to 6 months.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Because fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than the tissue surrounding it, CoolSculpting® technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target fat cells underneath the skin. The crystallized (frozen) fat cells die, and over time your body naturally processes the fat, eliminating the dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you.
It is important to note that the CoolSculpting® procedure is a fat-reduction treatment, rather than a weight-loss solution – the number of fat cells (adipose tissue) in the body stabilizes in young adulthood, and the cells expand and contract as weight is gained or lost. Rather than reducing the size of these adipose cells, the CoolSculpting® procedure aims to reduce the number of fat cells that exist in the target locations by 20 to 25 percent.
